Dover Township currently relies on eight (8) groundwater wells to provide drinking water to its customers, as well as an interconnection with the York Water Company. This helps to supplement the quantity of drinking water supplied. In 2022, Dover Township completed a water consumption analysis projection, which showed that system demand would increase by 9-12% through 2040. The increase was based on population growth of the Township. Due to this and other factors Dover Township has been looking for new water sources near its current drinking water system. Additional sources will allow Dover Township to permanently increase its water supply capacity for residential and commercial demands. By obtaining additional water sources Dover Township will add to its fire protection. Ensuring that if there is a large demand for water, we can supply it to our fire department. The hope is that the added supply will allow for lower long-term operating and maintenance costs.
